Weekend Temari

I got the urge to make temari this weekend.  This one is the Bellflower from Barbara Suess's Japanese Temari book.  I didn't pay attention to the instructions, so I mine looks more like an orange slice than a flower.

I got distracted while doing google searches for temari making instructions.  I found images of koma ornaments, then I found instructions, and made one of my own.

So that's my crafting haul for the weekend; two Japanese ornaments.

  1. These look great! You have more patience than I do! Sewing / embroidering with needle and thread aren't my strong skills! The design on the orange one looks great!

    1. Hi Kathy, sometimes I wish patience were more predictable. I really want to finish some of my tatted doilies, but every time I pick one up, I get fidgety. No tatted lace for me.

  2. That photo of the koma ornament brought back memories of my childhood days. I remember making them with my school friends and joining a group of them together to make mobiles. I have never seen any since then.

    1. Hi Kak Jon,
I guess these projects come and go, like fads. I searched all over the internet for a koma making tutorial. I should have just asked you :)
